Class on 1/30
Today in
Mr. Schick’s class we started off, by in the very beginning of class we have a
lock down drill which lasted a pretty long time. We probably had about thirty
minutes of class left when the lock down was over. Then when we came back into
the classroom, Phil and Jevan reviewed what we had already learned with the
class. It was pretty funny actually. When Mr. Schick started teaching again we
learned about Hammurabi’s code. The first one was “an eye for an eye” which is
nothing like today’s life. The second
law of Hammurabi is if a man marry a woman and she bear him no sons; if then
this woman die, if the "purchase price" which he had paid into the
house of his father-in-law is repaid to him, her husband shall have no claim
upon the dowry of this woman; it belongs to her father's house which doesn't
have much relevance for today. The third is that is a son strikes his father
then his hand must be cut off immediately, which today would be abuse and the
person would go to jail.
